Exhibition: Picasso and Modern British Art.

Nude Woman in a Red Armchair (Femme nue dans un fauteuil rouge)
The exhibition was held at the Tate Modern on July the 15th  2012 it was brilliant as you were able to see all the  artists who work coincided with Picasso' because they were heavily influenced by his cubist abstraction of the human form.Artist who works were displayed alongside Picasso various works were:Duncan Grant,Wyndham, Lewis,Ben Nicholson Henry Moore Francis Bacon,Graham Sutherland and David Hockney. I was able to see Picasso's complete versatility  and full repertoire of art:he created prints, sculpture, paintings, drawings, set design and costume design for theatre.Seeing his works in real life brought a tear to my eye as I have spent years as an art student merely seeing his works over the internet or in text books and to see is works life in the flesh was just a rare perhaps once in a life time opportunity that I felt privileged to have witnessed. My favourite painting in the whole exhibition was Nude Woman in a Red Armchair,1982 oil on canvas as seen above. The sensuous curves of the woman and the delicate brush-strokes and sombre pastel tones used accentuate the feminine form. Picasso's abstraction comes to play as if you look closely the face is two profiled as it is divided into, separated by colour but conjoined as one united form. The figures are embarrassing and caressing one another as they kiss this indicates the unity that Picasso must of felt was the product of true love.
